Polyurethane Floor Upgrading System with Epoxy Cementitious Moisture Barrier

A polyurethane floor upgrading system was installed within an automotive components manufacturing facility to improve the durability, surface performance, and long-term protection of the existing production floor.

The existing concrete substrate was first mechanically prepared by milling and grinding to remove weak surface material, contaminants, and irregularities while creating the required surface profile for optimum adhesion.

Following substrate preparation, a 2mm thick self-smoothing epoxy cementitious moisture barrier was applied to control residual moisture within the concrete substrate and provide a stable base for the subsequent flooring system.

A 3mm thick self-smoothing polyurethane screed was then installed across approximately 1,600m² to provide a seamless, durable, and easy-to-maintain surface suitable for demanding automotive manufacturing operations.

The completed flooring system provides enhanced resistance to abrasion, impact, chemicals, oils, moisture, and general operational wear. The combination of mechanical surface preparation, moisture barrier protection, and polyurethane screed delivers a reliable and long-lasting flooring upgrade for the manufacturing environment.
